SUSTAINABLE FIBERS

Here at Anderson & Sheppard, we work with primarily British and Italian mills. The majority of cloths are woven in England, Scotland and the North of Italy. We ensure that every mill that we work with practises an ethical code that respects both the care and well being of the animals and of the environment.

Moreover, Anderson & Sheppard has an established relationship with the Campaign for Wool and in September 2016 participated in the first ever Dumfries House Wool Conference. Described by HRH The Prince of Wales as the ‘Davos of Wool’ it was the largest and most prestigious international gathering of wool experts ever held in the United Kingdom. Animal welfare, sustainability and quality, together with environmental issues were focus points of the symposium, its zenith being the signing of The Dumfries House Wool Declaration. “Custodians of the wool industry” pledged a commitment to protect the environment, uphold the best possible practices for sheep welfare, growing, trading, manufacturing and selling wool, and wool-related products at all time.

 

 

Below you will find our guidelines for taking care of your clothes so that can last even longer.

 

KNITWEAR

  • 100% Merino, 100% Wool or 100% Cashmere

Cool hand wash, or machine wash on a cold cycle, inside a washing bag. Do not tumble dry or place over radiator. Dry Flat

  • 100% lambswool

Cool hand wash with a gentle detergent. Dry flat. Do not tumble dry or over a radiator

  • 100% Cotton

To ensure this cotton sweater keeps its shape it should be washed by hand in cool water. Dry flat. Do not tumble dry. To speed the drying process up, put the sweater in a pillow case or washing bad and spin dry in the washing machine

  • 100% Sea Island cotton

Machine wash at 30*. Line dry and steam iron. Do not tumble dry

 

FABRIC BLENDS

70% MERINO WOOL AND 30% CASHMERE

Cool hand wash, or machine wash on a cold cycle, inside a washing bag. Dry Flat

90% MERINO WOOL AND 10% CASHMERE

Cool hand wash, or machine wash on 30*inside a washing bag. Dry Flat. Do not tumble or place over radiator

70% CASHMERE AND 30% SILK

Hand wash in cool water using a gentle detergent. Dry flat. Do not tumble dryer or over a radiator

QIVUIK, MERINO WOOL AND MULBERRY SILK (DETACHABLE COLLAR)

Dry Clean or hand wash in cool water. Do not tumble dry. Dry Flat.

 

OUTERWEAR

Dry Clean Only.

 

SWIMWEAR

Rinse them out after your swim or machine wash with other colours on a cool setting. The fabric is fast drying. Do not tumble dry.

 

LINEN SHORTS

Machine wash at 30*. Line dry and steam iron. Do not tumble dry.

 

LINEN PJs

 Wash on cool setting. Do not tumble dry.

 

COTTON TOWELING DRESSING GOWN

Machine washed at 30*. It can be given a cool, gentle tumble dry.

 

LINEN DRESSING GOWN

Machine wash at 30*. Line dry or on a hanger, which will also make for easier ironing. Do not tumble dry. Steam iron.
